It was a perfect spring day for this couple’s wedding ceremony at Stone Mountain Lodge in Lyons, Colorado. Stone Mountain Lodge is a hidden gem, located against the rocky cliffs near Lyons, giving the feeling of being in the mountains without actually having to go there. Golden sunshine was in abundance and the cooler spring air was an ideal temperature.

From the Bride:

“Christen and her team were so lovely to work with, from the beginning when we were making song choices all the way to hearing them execute our vision beautifully as we walked down the aisle!”

Guests started to arrive well before the ceremony began, and they mingled, took photos, and played lawn games. I brought my sound system for our violin and cello duo, just in case we needed it, but everyone agreed that our acoustic duo carried beautifully, and they preferred the simpler look and feel.

The couple preferred a mix of pop and folk music for their ceremony, and they selected all of the music themselves. We played songs such as Wildflowers (Tom Petty), Dead Sea (The Lumineers), Angela (The Lumineers), Flightless Bird (American Mouth), and Can't Take My Eyes Off You (Frankie Valli).

The formal ceremony began with the family, who was seated to “Yellow” by Coldplay, followed by “Make You Feel My Love” by Bob Dylan for the wedding party. Then came the bride’s special entrance song - “Dreams” by the Cranberries. I created an arrangement specifically for our duo for the bride’s entrance and I think it may be my favorite arrangement ever, or maybe I just love the song! During the ceremony, the couple expressed how important music is in their lives, and we felt so happy to be the ones providing the live music.

The recessional was accompanied to another song that I specially arranged. “Golden” by Harry Styles provided a lively ending as everyone cheered and celebrated the couple.

We then continued to play lively postlude music as guests mingled and migrated towards the reception space. When most of the guests were gone, we nodded to the DJ to begin playing the reception music. It was such a smooth, sweet, and memorable wedding.
