A Nostalgic August Farm Wedding: Violin and Cello Duo

Our violin and cello duo accompanied this romantic wedding ceremony on a rainy August afternoon at the Lyons Farmette. When I arrived, the rain was pouring down in sheets and the thunder boomed over the mountainsides. When it was time to play for the ceremony, the rain had softened to a light sprinkle, and the gardens looked vibrant and green. All the little farm animals ventured from their hiding places to greet the guests as they arrived.

As guests arrived and settled into their seats, we played a prelude of classical favorites blended with contemporary love songs.

The music included Mozart’s Romanza and Menuet from Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, Handel’s Gavotte in G Major, and the delicate Flower Duet by Delibes. These classical selections were woven together with modern favorites such as La Vie en Rose, Make You Feel My Love, A Sky Full of Stars, and Anne’s Theme from Anne of Green Gables.

The ceremony began with the first notes of Lana Del Rey’s romantic and classic Young and Beautiful. Once the wedding party had walked down the aisle, we smoothly transitioned to the bride’s favorite part of the song. This part was more upbeat and joyful, announcing her grand entrance.

After the bride and groom exchanged vows and shared their first kiss as a married couple, our violin and cello duo launched into All You Need Is Love by The Beatles. After that, we segued right into postlude music to keep the energy going as guests began enjoying refreshments for cocktail hour. Our lively cocktail setlist included Signed, Sealed, Delivered, Wildflowers, and Enchanted.

All in all, it was such a charming celebration from beginning to end, and the rain even stayed away for the rest of the evening, leaving unusually crisp and fresh August air in its wake. It was such a joy to help this couple celebrate their love story!

A Spring Garden Wedding at the Lyons Farmette: Violin and Cello Duo

It was a beautiful weekday in June, a softly sunlit Colorado day that was made for a wedding. The wedding took place at the Lyons Farmette, a working mini-farm known for its vibrant gardens and cute farm animals. Guests were welcomed by clucking chickens, friendly goats, fuzzy alpacas, and the rustling leaves of the huge cottonwood trees. As guests approached the ceremony site, they were invited by our violin and cello music floating on the breeze, setting the tone for the entire day.

The couple handpicked each song for their prelude, ceremony, and postlude, giving their ceremony a curated feel personalized to them. We played their chosen mix of elegant and sentimental pieces, including Time to Say Goodbye, La Vie en Rose, and Home. As guests found their seats under the shade of the cottonwood trees, our music created a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

For the seating of the family, the couple chose Concerning Hobbits from The Lord of the Ring, starting the ceremony off with at touch of whimsy and adventure. The wedding party processional was wonderfully unique. First came Margaritaville by Jimmy Buffett, which I thoughtfully arranged for our duo. Then, the wedding couple selected Kiss Me from She’s All That, another new arrangement I created specifically for them. Both pieces translated beautifully for violin and cello, bringing a fresh, upbeat charm to the processionals.

The ceremony was sweet and joyful, and the shady lawns nestled under the cottonwood trees at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains perfectly fit the couple.

When it was time for the recessional, we played the energetic Signed, Sealed, Delivered by Stevie Wonder, which was accompanied by the guests as they cheered the newlyweds back up the aisle.

As friends and family made their way to the cocktail-hour space, we finished with the whimsical and sweet Married Life from the movie Up. It was a gentle and heartfelt way to close the ceremony portion of the day and usher everyone toward the festivities ahead.

A Fun Loving Wedding Ceremony at the Planet Bluegrass in Lyons, Colorado: String Quartet

Our string quartet was delighted to play fun contemporary music for this casual spring wedding ceremony at Planet Bluegrass in Lyons, Colorado. It was a breezy and damp day, threatening more spring rain, but other than a few sprinkles prior to the ceremony, the rain held off! Our delicate wooden stringed instruments were protected by the canopy covering that the bride provided for us, and we were able to play continuous prelude music as the guests arrived and mingled. The bride made a selection of fun contemporary and jazz music for both before and after her ceremony.

Due to having family in various different locations, this was their third wedding ceremony, but that fact didn’t detract at all from the couple’s joy and the excitement of their special day. They were fun-loving and casual, and it was wonderful to be a part of their Colorado wedding!

Flute and Harp Wedding Ceremony and Cocktail Music at the Lyons Farmette

My flute and harp duo had a wonderful day playing for this charming wedding ceremony and cocktail hour at the Lyons Farmette in Lyons, Colorado. The venue features wide lawns, an assortment of farm animals, vintage farm equipment, and a riot of color in the beautiful flower gardens. Twinkle lights sparkled from everywhere, and the creek running behind the ceremony site completed the charming effect.

Shortly before we started playing the prelude, the wind guested very strongly and it began to sprinkle rain. I had my music stand set up outside, and a big branch fell from the tree right where I would have been standing, so I was thankful that I wasn't there! We were so happy that the weather calmed down just as we needed to start playing the prelude music. We played elegant classical music to welcome the guests as they arrived.

Then it was time for our big musical surprise, as planned by the bride. We played "Zelda's Lullaby" from the video game "The Legend of Zelda", as the bride walked down the aisle. For the recessional, we played "Shelter" by Porter Robinson and Madeon.

During cocktails, we continued the video game theme. The couple chose a number of special songs to be played during cocktails, and the songs included more Zelda music and the Pokemon Center theme. Many people recognized the tunes and were very excited and surprised to hear songs that they knew from the video games. The tunes worked perfectly on flute and harp.

In late June, our flute and guitar duo played for a wedding ceremony at the River Bend in Lyons, Colorado. The setting at the River Bend was perfect for this outdoorsy adventure loving couple. It was idyllic with mature trees, a lush lawn, and a river curving in front of high rock walls. The guests enjoyed drinks, socializing, and playing corn-hole by the river before the wedding. Our flute and guitar duo played a mix of classical, popular and jazz tunes for the wedding ceremony and cocktail hour, and then we played another hour for the dinner reception.
