This week, I played flute and led the Boulder Symphony flute quartet for our first Dementia Friendly Concert. This concert was the brainchild of Leah Quiller, a Boulder Symphony member and music therapy specialist. For this concert, we played a fun collection of holiday tunes and got everyone to sing along and even play some percussion instruments with a few of the songs. We’re planning on doing more dementia friendly concerts in the future. We at the symphony are looking forward to creating a special experience for the elderly members of the Boulder community. In return, we are blessed in return by their enthusiasm and enjoyment of our music.
I’m looking forward to playing cello and flute at this Boulder Symphony event. We’re playing a really great mix of classic rock, holiday, jazz music and more!

Our Boulder Symphony flute quartet (flute, violin, viola, cello) recently played for a Santa Photo Shoot at the Boulder History Museum. The day dawned in winter chill but indoors the museum was cozy and beautifully decorated for the holidays. Guests enjoyed drinks, cookies and other refreshments as they enjoyed our musical performance. It was a charming and traditional way to ring in the holiday season and everyone left feeling a little more festive.
