Biography

I have over fifteen years of experience playing flute and piano for weddings, corporate events, social events, theatre, choir, and weekly church services. I have also played with various groups including the Charlotte Flute Choir, the Union Symphony Orchestra, the UNCC Flute Choir and the UNCC Flute Quartet. On cello, I’ve played with the Queen City Community Orchestra, the Queen City String Ensemble, church services, and in a teaching capacity with several high school groups. In addition to being classically trained, I can play jazz and Celtic music on the flute, and improvise on the flute and piano. I currently perform as a soloist and chamber musician in Colorado.

I am also a private flute instructor with extensive experience teaching  flute, piano and recorder lessons. I offer lessons to students of all ages and levels out of my home studio which is located in Westminster, Colorado. In addition to private teaching, I have taught keyboarding classes at Charlotte Jewish Day School, recorder classes for homeschoolers, and guided flute sectionals in Charlotte area schools. Until I moved to Colorado, I was the instructor of the USCHAP (Union Symphony Youth Chamber Players) advanced string ensemble, Vivace Strings. I am an active member of the National Flute Association, and the Colorado Flute Association.

I have a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where I graduated magna cum laude and earned my K-12 teaching license. There I studied under Mark Thomas, an international soloist and founder of the National Flute Association. I also studied flute under JoAnne Evans, Irene Maddox, Jennifer Dior, and Valerie Simosko. I studied piano pedagogy under Anna Brock. I studied cello under Christina Chin and Jennifer Humphreys, and am currently studying under Marcelo Sanches.
